What is the Living Rosary? The Living Rosary is a prayer chain of 20 persons. Each of them meditates by a decade of the rosary one of the mysteries confided to him/her in the communion with 19 other members. In this way each lives out the whole liturgical year with the one assigned mystery in his/her heart. Because the other members meditate on the other mysteries, the Living rosary makes real church prayer. The prayer chain is brotherhood as well where each prays for the others. The living rosary was launched in the 19th century at Lyon by a young lady, Pauline-Marie Jaricot. Later in Poland under the Nazist oppression it was popularized by Jan Tyranowski, one of the first teachers of the Pope John Paul II. Bit by bit other persons have continued to join. Not everyone speaks Esperanto, the international language. But they have learnt the prayers in that language. They experience that the common language makes real a concrete and brotherly communion across national borders. For many centuries the rosary has been prayed not only in native languages, but also in Latin. Similar to Latin, Esperanto invites everybody into the universality of the Church of Christ. Do you want to join as well? To become a member of the Living Rosary of the Esperantists, you should: - pray every day the given mystery by a decade of the rosary in Esperanto; - pray for and in communion with other members of the Living Rosary; - pray to the Lord for the suffering Church: the sick, those persecuted for the faith, and the poor. If you want to participate, please write to the coordinators: Anne & Bruno Masala, amb at osiek.org. Please send a short presentation of yourself (place, age, the state of life, occupation) to nourish the brotherly prayer of the others |
